Winter Storm Tracks

Jet streams, moving at high altitudes and high speeds, often carry winter storms to the north or to the south of Colorado.

One of these jet streams flows along the U.S.-Canadian border.

Another jet stream flows northeast out of northern Mexico.

Either of these jet streams may occasionally shift out of their usual paths and into Colorado, causing winter storms.
