Indirect Methods of Conserving Water
Cut Down on Driving
- It takes 6000 gallons of water to refine 1 gallon of gasoline! Also, by reducing the amount of miles you drive, you will reduce the amount pollutants in the air. This keeps the air clean and prevents acid rain.
Eat Less Meat
- 5200 gallons of water are required to produce 1 pound of beef. In contrast, 70 gallons of water are required to produce 1 pound of grapes and 23 gallons of water are required to produce 1 pound of tomatoes.
Recycle
- It usually requires much less water to produce goods from recycled materials than is does to produce goods from raw materials.
