Ground Water Resources of Colorado

While most of Colorado's surface water occurs west of the Continental Divide, most of Colorado's ground water occurs east of the Continental Divide. Aquifers which yield the most water are found in alluvium. In the mountains and on the Western Slope, lower yielding sandstone aquifers are predominant.
